This week I was invited to a special Halloween event by The Moms. Disney’s star of Austin & Ally actress Laura Marano was the special guest as she is currently the ambassador for UNICEF. Halloween isn’t only about the treats but about saving lives around the globe.
UNICEF is a global initiave. Their Kids Helping Kids movement has already raised more than $170 million since 1950 to aid children around the world. It’s a great campaign that teaches kids about the issues that affect our world. The monies collected would help get children clean water, nutrition, medicine & education. What better time than Halloween to replace the candy for some money. I rather it, how about you?
The kids were treated to some Halloween candies at the famous Dylan’s Candy Bar. They had fun decorating their own UNICEF trick or treat box. Of course the major highlight of the boys & girls was meeting Laura. She’s such a well spoken young woman. She went around to each table & spoke to the kids. She took time & gave our autographs and pictures. Andre was star struck as well as most of the kids even some of us parents. It’s a real treat to see such young talent to be so down to earth & personable.
As you can see Laura really got down & laughed with the kids. They had such a blast with her.
You can help support UNICEF’s mission by checking out their website at http://www.unicefusa.org/ to learn about their mission. It’s not too late to download resources to help Laura’s Kids Helping Kids movement!
Disclosure: I was invited as press to the event. All opinions are always 100% my own. I was given a goody bag.
