Our first summer travel is coming up in a few weeks and I couldn’t be more excited! We are heading to Atlantis in the Bahamas for one week. I plan on taking full advantage of the warm weather & pool scenery. I have a pile of books that I plan on diving head first into this summer so I plan on bringing one with me this trip. I created a short list of my top 5 books that are on my summer reading list right now.
China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan
Last year I read Crazy Rich Asians which is the prequel to this book. I was intrigued at first simply by it’s title. Being half Asian, I just had to support a fellow Asian and the title was hilarious. The book was great. Rich boy falls in love with a poor girl who according to his mother isn’t worthy of her son or their fortune. It can easily be anyone’s family. I patiently waited for his newest book China Rich Girlfriend. It continues with the wedding of Rachel Chu. I’m sure there will be more crazy antics that I can’t wait to read. I just found out that Crazy Rich Asians will be adapted into a motion picture! So look out for it!
After You by Jojo Moyes
This is the much anticipated sequel to Me Before You which hit theaters this weekend. If you haven’t read that then I highly suggest you do first. It will tug at your heart strings. I haven’t seen the movie yet so I can’t compare it to the book but I do hope they did it justice. That book was one of my absolute favorites last year so I have high expectations for this one. I hope it doesn’t disappoint! #fingerscrossed
Meternity by Meghann Foye
You probably have heard of Meghann Foye recently in the news. She stirred up controversy about wanting the benefits of maternity leave without having any kids. While I don’t agree with her, I had to get this damn book. I was intrigued by it and honestly by reading the back cover, the book sounds hilarious. So yes I bought this book and damn it I’m going to read it. In case you didn’t hear about the controversy here’s a link to the NY Post article http://nypost.com/2016/04/28/i-want-all-the-perks-of-maternity-leave-without-having-any-kids/
#Girlboss by Sophie Amoruso
I first heard of this book when Audrey from MomGenerations mentioned it online. As a woman who works full time trying to run my blog in my spare time I was in to this book. The title speaks it all. Who doesn’t want to be a #GIRLBOSS ? With women empowerment, and a presidential woman candidate in the running we do rule the world. I need a little inspiration on how to become my own #GIRLBOSS. I’m looking forward to reading this and learning of Sophia Amoruso’s rise from struggle to financial freedom.
The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney
I feel like this book has been flashing in my face every time I head into Barnes & Noble. I had a picture of it in my phone to remind me to buy it. I finally caved in this week & bought the hard cover which I hate buying because they are so heavy & costly. But I have a B&N membership plus additional 20% off so it was a good deal. It sounds like an intriguing story about family drama and greed. I can’t wait to get started.
These are my top picks this summer. Are any of these on your list? What’s on your summer reading list? Share your favorite books and I can add them to my list. I’m always looking for a good book. Happy reading!
