We have been fortunate that we have been able to take trips every year. As much as we love to get out of New York City, we also love our mini stay-cations too. Obviously we are in the best city in the world so when we can we take advantage of getting out of our neighborhood to venture into a new one. We recently stayed at the RIU Plaza Times Square Hotel. Located right in the theater district on 46th Street & 8th Avenue on restaurant row, the hotel is a welcoming sight in a bustling neighborhood.
As you walk into the hotel you feel like you are off in the Caribbean or somewhere tropical. The bright purple hues bring a bright light to the city.
We were on the 26th floor in a standard room with a full sized bed. The room was small but it is New York. Space is limited. Nonetheless, the room was cozy. We had a view of 8th Avenue. In the evening, the 24 hr lights of Times Square shown through our window very brightly.
There is an executive lounge on the floor which offers Crown level and Suite guests a private area to relax, work and enjoy some light snacks.
With all its elegance, I was disappointed with the hallway on our floor. It was rather drab and looked like a hospital ward. They did have large black & white photos of the city but I would have like some color.
We don’t frequent Times Square that often in the evenings because it is so inundated with tourists, but since we were there we headed out that evening. We found a Brazilian restaurant on Restaurant Row which we had an amazing dinner. We also walked the Theatre District shopping court.
We had an amazing stay at RIU Plaza. With its central location and close proximity to everything, it is an ideal option for a visit. I look forward to coming back again.
