This summer has been a great traveling one for us. We have been fortunate. As much as we love going everywhere with Andre, Hubby & I were looking forward to our weekend alone at the Mount Airy Casino Resort in Pennsylvania.
We arrived late Friday night so we were a bit tired & hungry. We were impressed with the beauty of the lobby. I remember the old commercials of the Mount Airy Lodge and this wasn’t that place anymore.
The hotel staff were friendly & quick with check in. We headed up to our room. You need a room key for the elevators to go up which provided security from strangers roaming around.
Our room was cozy & modern with a huge king sized bed. We overlooked the property onto the golf course, which hubby was going to play the next day.
Once we dropped our bags off, we headed down to the casino floor to grab some food at Guy Fieri’s Mt. Pocono Kitchen. It is opened 24 hours serving some great American food. We ordered sashimi tacos & hubby tried for the 1st time an Elk burger. Both were delicious! The cheesecake with chips & pretzels inserted was definitely a unique version.
Our next day was spent indulging in the amenities the resort had to offer. I spent my morning at the Spa at Mount Airy with a signature massage. I have had several massages in my life but never have I felt such rejuvenation & relaxation than with my masseuse Carolina. She had such a gentle touch & aura about her that I really transcended to another world. After my treatment I dared into the Eucalyptus sauna for a few minutes. The steam & smell was refreshing but I literally lasted for a minute. LOL The heat was too much for me.
Hubby went to play a round of golf at Mount Airy’s award winning course. Inspired by Sports Illustrated “Best 18 holes in America“, the course was sure to be a test of endurance. Since Hubby was alone, they paired him with a group.
After our day apart, we had dinner reservations at Bistecca by IL Mulino, a steakhouse. One of the finer dining options at the resort, we were met with impeccable service and meal. It is a casual dress code. We selected the lobster mac and cheese and NY strip steak. As an appetizer we had the special mixed salad with prosciutto & peaches. The mac and cheese was cheap with the lobster but the steak was extra juicy.
Now since we were at the Mount Airy Casino Resort a stop at the casino was a must! You can’t avoid the casino because to get to any of the restaurants you have to walk by it. I love gambling especially playing the Wheel of Fortune machines. I was a bit disappointed because it is a bit outdated. They clearly haven’t updated this portion of the resort. You felt like you were in the 70s. BUT I did win! So who’s complaining, right? No photos are allowed on the casino floor.
I have to mention the indoor/outdoor pool that guests can enjoy. Swim in the 51,000 square foot pool and enjoy some drinks at the bar. In the evening, it transforms into a nightlife that the locals and hotel guests can enjoy with a DJ and dance the night away.
We had an amazing weekend. It definitely was what we needed to unwind with each other. We were highly impressed with the resort and can’t wait to make it a yearly visit.
