Hurricane Sandy will forever resonate in my memory. Never in my life would I have thought that New York City would have been struck by such a devastating storm. I always felt safe here. I always assumed hurricanes happened in the South or Caribbean. What a big idiot I am! The Atlantic Hurricane Season begins June 1st and I’m doing all I can to get my family prepared.
NYC Office of Emergency Management has kicked off their “Know Your Zone” Campaign during this Preparedness week (May 25-31st). It’s encouraging all New Yorkers to know what zone your home or business is located. This will let you know if your location is affected by a storm surge and if you need to evacuate. I just found out that we live in Zone 3. I remember during Hurricane Sandy not knowing anything and being extremely paranoid about flood areas.
Take a minute to participate in Thunderclap. Show your support & be in the know!
You can find what your zone is and lots of valuable information at Know Your Zone.
