Our recent trip to Universal Studios was a memorable trip for us. It was our first time there as well as to the Family Forward conference. Andre & my nephew Julian are both 10 years old and they were the perfect age for it. Here are my 5 reasons why your tween will love Universal Studios.
Marvel Attractions at Universal Islands of Adventure
What boys do you know that don’t live & breathe for Marvel? It was like walking directly into the comic books. The boys loved the new Incredible Hulk coaster with its flips, twists & turns. I couldn’t get them to stop going on! We learned a tip from one of the Universal members about hidden signatures from the Marvel artist that can be found in the drawings. We had a fun time looking for each one. We found 4. How many can you find?
Blue Man Group
I have seen the show in New York City & loved it. So I had to sign up the family to check out the show at Universal. I knew the boys would be slightly disappointed in going because it would take time away from the rides. Luckily for me, I made the right choice. The whole family loved it! It’s a bit different from the New York City show but it still has the same comedic tones and party theme. The boys laughed & was enthralled through out the show. They especially loved the ending where the giant balls where tossed in to the audience. It was a great dance party and the perfect show to see with the family. And a great reprieve from the Florida heat!
NBC Sports Grill & Brew
There are so many options to eat down at City Walk that it can hurt your head. My nephew is a picky eater so I opted for an American cuisine. The NBC Sports Grill & Brew was the perfect option for my little sports enthusiasts. While we were dining there was a torrential storm which was remnants from Hurricane Hermine so we were stuck in the restaurant for about 2 hours. But it was not a problem! The food was delicious. I highly suggest the blue cheese chips & large pretzel to start. It definitely was a winner at our table. They serve your basic chicken fingers or burgers to filet mignon. We were stuffed! Since we were stuck inside, the boys were occupied with the foosball table located in the waiting area. Of course large flat screen tvs are all over showcasing any sport game at the moment. It definitely is a haven for any sport enthusiast.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Andre & Julian aren’t big fans of Harry Potter yet. Andre has started reading the 1st book. They actually were watching the movies at the hotel room while we were there. They were mesmerized by it so when we entered Diagon Alley & Hogsmeade, they felt like they transitioned into the stories. Take a ride on the Hogwarts Express to platform 9 3/4, experience the magic of interactive wands and drink some butter beer all while experiencing Harry’s world. It definitely is a must see!
Creating Family Memories
We have gone on several trips with Andre and this seems to be the one that he remembers the most so far. I am so glad that we went this year. The memories we have made together made it well worth the trip. Universal Studios as well as the team at Family Forward wanted us to create moments with our families during this weekend and we definitely accomplished that! Memories that are instilled in our minds as well as our hearts. Memories that we hope to recreate again next year!
